Overview

In 2019, Bito used "Rediscover Your Wild" as the theme for a ten-day road trip, improvising and capturing scenic views of mountains and seas along the way. without subtitles or dialogue, it conveyed the pure essence of nature through the perspective of a primal hunter, observing insects and animals with meticulous attention. This year, Bito collaborates once again with the Taitung County Government to create a city image video, rediscovering Taitung through the sense of "Listening"

The crash of waves, the hum of cicadas in the woods...

Such fleeting sounds are no longer enough to capture the team's imagination of Taitung's auditory world. This time, the lens shift from vast landscapes to people, weaving together the human threads of Taitung's unique soundscape. Like gathering scattered stars, the team collected stories from across the region, piecing together a symphony of moments that define this place. Rhythems of Taitung goes beyond hearing the land's voice. With a resonant "thump", itdraws listeners into every corner of daily life, uncovering sounds often overlooked: the chiseling of wood, whispered prayers, the clatter of outdoor cooking, the hum of machinery, and the eternal rhythm of ocean waves. Interwoven with these are the life stories of Taitung's people - words that can only be spoken after touching the sea or walking deep into the forest. These sounds, stradding the boundaries of culture and art, form the heartbeat of Taitung's unique identity.

Rhythms of Taitung

Breaking away from the conventional tropes of city branding-scenic landscapes, tourist attactions, and local delicacies- Bito redefines the narrative by centering on sound, daily rituals, and cultural depth. The film features diverse voices: local handpan artist Aguang, Amis tribal artist Siki Sufin, sculptor Ljuwa Tzudjui returning to carry forward his father's craft, and Federico Davicino, an interational migrant who found his calling at the Taitung Sailing School. Through their distinct perspectives, the film captures the vibrant cultural mosaci of Taitung.
